A bit about me...

I believe self-care is an integral - and essential - component of our well-being. Self-care supports our physical, psychological, and emotional health, and helps us to be better humans. When we care for ourselves we can better care for our partners, our families, our friends, and our community. Life can be challenging, right? I believe therapeutic massage - time spent being cared for and supported---being in the bird's nest - can be an integral part of the self-care we all need.

I graduated from the Downeast School of Massage in Waldoboro, ME, where I received training in a broad array of modalities including deep tissue, Swedish, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, prenatal, and sports massage. I strive to create a warm, welcoming, and supportive environment that allows you to let go and relax deeply into your treatment.

Prior to massage training, I pursued degrees in music, then psychology, and finally education, with a focus on girls' and women's development, and gender equity. Through this time I working for a number of years as a therapist, taught at the University of Vermont, and co-created a program for middle school girls called Rosie's Girls. In later years, I owned a café and homeschooled my daughter. I have lived in five different states over the years   - and am so deeply happy to be back in the Northeast where I belong.

When I am not in my massage room - or bird banding - I can often be found cooking and baking. My Indian and bread cookbooks are in high rotation right now. I love to garden, and work in my yard, and am so excited to be welcoming chickens back into my life this spring. I love to walk and kayak and bird with friends, and explore new areas of Maine. I always look forward to time with my awesome children, and the passel of small boys who are my grandchildren. I am passionate about independent bookstores and coffeehouses, knitting stores, and small town main streets. And I'll never pass up another good puzzle to add to my stash for those long winter nights. Nights made even sweeter with a wood stove, the company of good friends, and my purring cats.

Since falling deeply in love with all things birds I have sought out experiences and training to become a bird bander, and now spend time each spring and fall on Appledore Island banding migratory songbirds. On the mainland, I’m watching my feeders for new species to add to my yard list, or walking the beach or woods with binoculars in hand.
